Wishing You A Very Happy Holiday

I wanted to take the time to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and a happy new year.  This week will be another busy one finishing up everything...gifts, decorating (yes, really), cookies and preparing Christmas dinner.  I am looking forward to spending Christmas with friends and family...it's a bit of twist from years past.
When your children are grown and no longer living in your home, Christmas is so different and new traditions need to be built and maybe change from year to year depending on their lives.  I am trying to go with the flow this year...but I really miss the excitement of children on Christmas morning.

I am thankful that we have very dear friends that have little ones and can still share in their excitement waiting for Santa.

This will be the first time in 16 years that I will not have a dog by my side on Christmas morning...and no, Santa is not bringing me a new one.  Jake was the absolute cutest thing on Christmas morning where he would just sit and stare or nudge his stocking until everything was out of it...you will be missed sweetie.   Jesse (my golden) is always in my heart as well.  I still have one furr-baby and Misty will still be under the Christmas tree for her cozy naps for as long as we keep it up.

Yesterday, I saw It's a Wonderful Life for the first time ever (hard to believe I know).  I am glad to say that I am very lucky for the people that I have in my life now.  I hope you all have who you want with you over the holidays and if not remember them with love!
Hope you see you frequently in 2011.
Enjoy and be safe!

NEW Monthly Class Coming in 2011: 12 Days of Christmas

Christmas is always here before you know it and over in a flash. This class will keep Christmas in your heart all through the year...well at least one day a month. Each month you will create a different Christmas/Winter themed project. Let me help you get ahead of the game by creating handmade gifts (if you choose to give them away), cards and decorations. No need to try to get it all done within the last month, right before the holidays. Take one class a month to get ahead of the hustle and bustle.  It's sure to be a JOLLY good time.  Specific dates, times and projects will be announced each month."

December 2010 Classes

It is hard to believe that 2010 is almost over.  Time sure did fly by fast this year.  To finish off this year I have a bunch of classes that I think you will enjoy.  If I don't see you in class then I hope that you have a happy and safe holiday!

Wednesday, 12/1/10 ScrapMore Layout & Tag:
Time: 6pm @ The Inspiration Station
Make a two page 12x12 layout using Memory Box paper and incorporating a hidden flap for more storage of photos or personal journaling.  Make a tag that can be used on a gift or another scrapbook page using many different techniques.  Supplies needed for class:  Please be sure to bring all items listed in the standard class kit as well as Distress Ink - Walnut Stain, ink applicator and Burgandy Stickles.

Sunday, 12/5/10: Christmas Memories Album:
Time: 11am at Wiggles & Giggles
Good things do come in small packages and this album is no exception. This 12 page accordion album fits inside the decorated box. What better way to package up your memories for future recollection or to give away as a handmade gift.  Supplies needed for class: Please be sure to bring all items listed in the standard class kit as well as Distress Ink-Walnut Stain, ink applicator, glue stick and a strong adhesive tape runner is recommended and an old catalog.

Sunday, 12/5/10: Christmas Wish List Clipboard:
Time: 2pm at Wiggles & Giggles
Whether you have children or not this clipboard can serve as functional or just decorative. You can hang it on a wall or in a plate stand (which can be purchased separately from the instructor on the day of class). Either way it's a great addition to your holiday decorations. Six tags will be provided in class as well as emailing the electronic file so new tags can be made each year. Your kids will enjoy filling it out and their wishes on display. Also, what better way to display (hint) as to what you would like...maybe a gift certificate so you can take another class or purchase some paper crafting supplies, because we can never have too much of that! Just make a wish and see what happens.  Supplies needed for class: Please be sure to bring all items listed in the standard class kit as well as Distress Ink-Walnut Stain, ink applicator, sanding tool or sandpaper, glue stick and a strong adhesive tape runner is recommended.

Thursday, 12/9/10: Picture Perfect Pages:
Time: 6pm at Wiggles & Giggles
Beautiful papers are perfect for storing wonderful holiday memories. Using I.O.D Night Divine papers you will make two 12x12 scrapbook layouts and pocket/tag. An interactive hidden section can hold another photo or more personalized journaling that you may want to keep tucked away.  Supplies needed for class: Please be sure to bring all items listed in the standard class kit as well as Color Box Chestnut Roan, ink applicator and Gelly Roll Stardust pen.

12/11/10: Winter Cards Done Just Rite:
Using winter themed Just Rite stamps you will make 4 different cards/tag using the Just Right stamps. Color these images using your favorite coloring utensils (COPIC markers or colored pencils). We will also be incorporating the COPIC airbrush system, Spellbinder dies, border punches and masking techniques.
COPIC Markers used by the instructor: E34, G82, G84, B00, Y11, Y38, R00, R21, R85, R89,  W3, W5, W7 and 0 colorless blender.  If using COPIC please bring those or colors you would like to use in class.

12/11/10: Fall "Autumn Harvest" Album:
Time: 2:30pm @ Wiggles & Giggles
If you missed it the first time, join us this time around...after all it's still fall.  Create this perfect fall themed album using over 15 different papers. During class you will make twelve 6x6 page layouts for the inside of this board book album. After class all you will need to do is insert your favorite fall photos. Almost all papers have been pre-cut by the instructor to allow more time to complete this project during class. Supplies needed for class: Please be sure to bring all items listed in the standard class kit as well as Distress Ink-Walnut Stain, ink applicator, glue stick and a strong adhesive tape runner is recommended and any old mail catalog.

COPIC...COPIC...COPIC

We had a full house today, well technically yesterday...it's late, just got home from Blue Man Group (fun!) and brought in my bags of supplies from todays classes.  If you missed the sign up because we were sold out for the COPIC classes...put it on your holiday wish list as well as the markers or make it a gift certificate so that you can pick out some markers after taking a class.  I will be scheduling more classes beginning in January 2011.  It's scary how soon that will be here.

I will be holding a class on Saturday, December 11 that will utilize all those COPIC skills you learned, using the JUST RITE groovy snowmen and snowwomen :-).  They are so cool...I just love snomen...they really do melt my heart.  If you haven't been bitten by the COPIC bug then bring along your colored pencils or markers of your choice and join us for that same class!

I completed the Intermediate COPIC certification last weekend in Chicago.  It was very informative and looking forward to bringing you some new techniques  /projects using the markers in 2011.

Tomorrow needs to be a clean up my scrapbook room day because I have no space to work and I just got the new Websters Pages papers (Waiting for Santa) for one of my December projects  - LOVE IT and cannot wait to create something.

Have a great one and hope you have fun creating!

October Update

Here are some changes to my October Schedule due to not getting the needed product in on time to prepare one of my October samples as well as the upcoming holidays. My Picture Perfect Pages class that was supposed to be held on Thursday, October 28th will be held on Thursday, November 11th.
Also, with the upcoming holidays for the months of November and December, my Picture Perfect Pages layout classes at Wiggles and Giggles will be held on the 2nd Thursday vs. the 4th.
Next week I am heading to Chicago!!! Additional COPIC training in hopes of learning some new tips and techniques that I will share with you. I am really excited.
Last weekend I completed my first half marathon (13.1 miles). I was so excited that I exceeded my goal by almost 5 minutes!!! The last couple of miles were really tough but now I know I would train more faithfully the next time. Yes, I will do it again!
Tomorrow night I get to play and hang out with a dear friend. Doesn't get better than that!!!
Happy Creating!

Upcoming October Happenings

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is October. Time sure has flown by this year. I do love this time of year…you know “sweater weather”. Speaking of sweater weather, I recently purchased two sets of clear Penny Black Winter/Christmas themed stamps and there is one that has a cat in a big oversized sweater and another where the cat has holly around his head. They are the most adorable stamps. I am looking forward to using my COPIC markers on these stamp sets…they are SO CUTE! I will try to get some pictures up to show you soon.

Speaking of COPICS…I am going to Chicago to take the Intermediate Certification Class. This is the first Intermediate Certification that they are offering. I am really looking forward to learning new things and being able to share some new techniques in my classes.

This is a busy month of classes and/or events. Here is the rundown…

September 2010 Class Sample Pictures

I loved putting together and journaling about Jake in my "in loving MEMORY" Picture Perfect Pages layout.  While I cannot say there weren't any tears throughout the process, it brought back a lot of wonderful memories about him.  I also had forgotten about a stamp that was just perfect for this layout.  I had bought it a while ago (over a year) and never used it before.  Yikes, that seems to be normal for me.  I am trying to be better about that.  My scrapbook room is bursting at the seams right now.  Maybe that is just because when I am creating it ends up being "messy" as my husband would say, I choose to call it "creative chaous".  Thankfully, I am in a cleaning mood today so I am organizing and weeding out things.  While I should be outside enjoying this gorgeous cool day, the windows are open and I am enjoying the breeze indoor.  Tonight will be a great night on our patio for a fire, staying warm with a nice big sweatshirt,  roasting the perfect brown marshmallow (no burnt ones for me!).  I love fall weather.  Hope you all enjoy the long weekend!

Here are some pictures of some of my upcoming classes:
Cards done Just Rite - Saturday 9/11/10 @ 10:30am (Wiggles & Giggles)

Picture Perfect Pages - Thursday 9/23/10 @ 6pm (Wiggles & Giggles)

Picture Perfect Pages - Thursday 9/23/10 @ 6pm (Wiggles & Giggles)

Family Nest Accordion Album - Wednesday 9/29/10 @ 6pm (The Inspiration Station)

Saying Goodbye...

On August 18th, I had to say goodbye to one of my fur-babies, Jake.  After 11 years of cuddling, playing and forever being my shadow, it was time to say goodbye.  He was a definite mama's boy and I loved every moment.  He was the most beautiful husky I have ever seen.  His blue eyes made me melt.  He was so soft, especially after being groomed...oh I will miss that smell.  While my heart aches that he is gone, I know he is in a better place and back playing with my golden retriever, Jesse that I lost in 2001.

In the past week and a half I have realized how much of my time was actually being spent caring for Jake, especially when things started getting worse (approximately 3-4 months ago).  It was taking me 1.5 - 2 hours a day just walking him outside on a leash multiple times a day because he had lost his sight and would have injured himself if left to roam our yard (even with the Invisible Fence).  I never thought twice while I was doing it because I would do anything to have him here with me today if the circumstances could have been different.  However, I now understand why I felt so frazzled and wondering where my free-time went on a daily basis.

I want to thank three places that also took care of Jake.
  1. Dr. Gayle Block at Town & Country Veterinary Associates in Vernon, CT for being such a kind and understanding person.  Thank you for helping me through my second really difficult time with my dogs.
  2. 1st Command Dog Grooming in Manchester, CT for being able to trim Jake's pads (he had VERY ticklish back feet) and always making him smell so good.  However, we could almost always guarantee it would rain on his grooming days as well (sort of like my Picture Perfect Pages layout class at Wiggles & Giggles).
  3. Baywood Kennels in Willington, CT for being Jake's home away from home when we were away.
I had to postpone a couple of classes or there had been a delay in typing up instructions for people that couldn't make it to class but it has been due to caring for my fur-baby in addition to other day to day life things.  I am sorry for the delays, but I hope that you understand.

Jake will be featured in my Picture Perfect Pages Layout Class at Wiggles & Giggles on September 23rd.  While my title will be "in loving MEMORY of" it can easily be changed to be a page about one of your favorite memories.  I just got my pictures so the layout will be completed soon!

COPIC Fun

Just thought I would share some of the things that I did this past weekend.  I had so much fun coloring with my Copic markers using some of my Stampavie stamps that have been just sitting there, waiting to be opened.  Coloring is so relaxing for me...exactly what I needed.  Have fun creating!

Hope you are all enjoying your summer and looking forward to seeing you soon!

Busy, Busy, Busy

As you can tell from my last post almost a month ago, it's been crazy again.  Between my full time job, COPIC classes, a great Idaho vacation where my husband completed his first Ironman Triathlon, trying to clean and reorganize my scrapbook room to help get the creative juices flowing to create more class samples, my furr baby requiring a lot of attention, visits to the vet and some medical procedures of my own I am trying to get back on track again.
I love it when I have time to create, but sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day to get in everything that I want to do when there is so much that I need to do.  Speaking of that, I have been meaning to do a project of a day, week or month of my everyday life.I think it's important to remember what our everyday lives were like...so keep an eye out for that.
My next layout class at The Inspiration Station will be held on Wednesday, September 1st using Mellisa Frances papers and creating paper flowers (great techniques).
I found my Christmas papers for upcoming projects for classes in both stores so I am excited about that...it's crazy how fast it will be here.
COPIC classes have been going really well at Wiggles & Giggles.  I used my birthday money that I received to add an additional 20 markers to my collection.  I now have one space let in my 72 marker case...looks like I will need to buy another case real soon!
Happy Creating to all!

Summertime Schedule

Needless to say, it has still been pretty busy lately (since my last post was on 4/30- over a month ago!).  I do feel like I can breathe again.  My full time job is no longer insane...busy, but tolerable.  Wow, where does the time go?  I cannot believe it's June already and the weather has been reminding us of that with the gross humidity - thank goodness for air conditioning!  I am hoping w/the rain this weekend that I will end up having more time to create some more projects.
After previously having to postpone two of my layout classes (one at each store location), they were held this week and last week.  It felt great to be back doing what I enjoy, meeting new people, seeing familiar faces and sharing my love/obsession for scrapbooking.

Upcoming classes:
  • COPIC 101 classes at Wiggles & Giggles will be held on Thursday, June 10th (SOLD OUT) and Sunday, June 13th (only ONE spot left).  Additional class recently added for Sunday, July 11th and starting to fill.
  • COPIC 102 classes at Wiggles & Giggles will be held on Sunday, July 11th (only a FEW spots left) and Thursday, July 15th is starting to fill as well.
  • Picture Perfect Pages layout and card class using the gorgeous Basic Grey Cappella papers at Wiggles & Giggles will be on Thursday, July 22nd (a June class will not be held).  We will be focusing on the different ways to display your photos on this layout as well as paper weaving techniques.  Layout and card is already on display at the store.
  • Scrap More Layout and card class at The Inspiration Station will be on Wednesday, August 4th (a July class will not be held).  We will be using Melissa Frances papers with techniques for creating paper roses (now I am thinking of Marie Osmond) as well as altering premade flowers in different ways.  Fun techniques - don't miss it! Hoping to finish this one up this weekend.
  • Altered Frame Collage class using 7 Gypsies Venice papers at Wiggles & Giggles on Sunday, July 25th. A wonderful way to showcase some of your photos!  Final touches will be completed and on display at the store soon.
  • Embossed Expressions Brass Stencil card class using a dragonfly stencil at Wiggles & Giggles will be held on Sunday, July 25th.  Join me to see how many different uses and techniques you can get out of one brass stencil!  All paper will be precut by the instructor to allow you time to focus on the techniques during class.  Best of all...you take home this brass stencil after class!  Cards will be on display this weekend at the store.
  • The Family Nest Accordion Album using 7 Gypsies Venice papers (yes, I like this paper) and stickers at The Inspiration Station on Wednesday, August 11th.  This album is just perfect for some family photos. Some people had a preview of this album during class this week, but it will be displayed at the store by the end of this weekend.
Pictures of the above classes will be posted to my blog and available for viewing at each store location soon (if not already there) - PROMISE!

If you cannot make the class but would like to get a kit all you have to do is sign up for the class and tell them that you would like a kit.  This can be done for any of the classes listed above, except COPIC 101, COPIC 102 or the Embossed Expressions Brass Stencil card classes.

New Product Arrived...Finally

Not that I have had any time to create (unfortunately), I am very excited that I will be picking up product tomorrow that has finally come in.  I have been waiting since the end of January for one.  Melissa Frances and Basic Grey Cappella Line is in...I can't wait to see them. I hope they look just as good in person as they did online.
It's been hard to plan classes when the product doesn't come in as planned...combined with working 12-19 hour days and weekends.  I am hoping it will be calming down soon because I feel like my days all run together lately.  Every time I say that, it gets crazy again.  However, as of tonight, it looks like I will have some time to "play" this weekend.  I am really looking forward to it.  I decided to clean my house tonight so that I don't have to do that on Sunday.  I need to switch gears and get those creative juices flowing again and RELAX.
Hopefully I will have some pictures to post for you soon!  Hope you enjoy this beautiful weekend that's heading our way.

Update on Upcoming Classes

Do you like Memory Box products?  Join me on Wednesday, 4/7 at The Inspiration Station for my two page layout and two cards using gorgeous Memory Box papers and stamps!  If you cannot make it to class, then I would be happy to put together a kit for you. If you are interested, please be sure to call the store by 5pm tomorrow (Tuesday - 4/6) so I have enough time to prepare for the following nights class...plus the store is closed during the day on Wednesday. If you would like a kit, please be sure to provide your email address as well when you call.

If you are interested in embossing then please join me on Sunday, April 11th at Wiggles and Giggles. We will be making 4 cards using brass stencils as well as embossing folders. You will even get a brass stencil to take home with you.

So, bad news...the Melissa Frances product that I was relying on for my Mother's Day albums are delayed until June now.  I have been trying to scramble to see if I can use some product from my "stash" or find another product line that I could even get in time to make a sample for these classes, but time is running out.  I will know more by the end of this week and post an update this weekend.

I have scheduled my first COPIC Marker 101 class at Wiggles and Giggles.  It will be held on Saturday, May 8th from 1:30 - 3:00.  You will be getting 3 markers included as part of each class!  It will be a great way to learn about and play with these great markers.  We will be having a COPIC Marker 102 class as well...and if people are interested in continuing and making a COPIC Marker Club that would meet monthly then we will do this as well... More COPIC Class information to come - Check back for updates!

I hope you are all finding time to be creative.  Unfortunately, I have been way too busy with my full time job these past couple of weeks that it has knocked my "playtime" down to nothing...however, I do have a playdate scheduled for tomorrow night...looking forward to it.  I hope those creative juices will be flowing :-)

Copic Marker Certified

Yesterday, I obtained my Copic Marker Certification in Long Island, NY and I am really excited to be able to pass along the knowledge that I received in some upcoming classes (to be announced soon).  I had been going back and forth about which class to take; Long Island in March or Maine in May.  However, since I wanted to become certified as soon as I could, I picked Long Island.
After running early Saturday morning then hanging out at Panera, I ventured out for my drive to Long Island.  It was a gorgeous day thank goodness because I knew I was going to be tired because I usually nap on the Saturdays that I run :-).  I did not enjoy the drive.  Lots of traffic, I was tired and just not a fun ride.
When I arrived at the hotel, there weren't any rooms that were available yet, so I had some lunch.  I decided not to take a nap because I figured I would just go to bed early so I would be well rested for the class on Sunday.  I think I feel asleep around 8:30/9:00 which was great until some teenage girls team from Atlantic City staying in the rooms surrounding mine and down the hall, woke me up.   Around 10pm they decided to keep going in and out of each others rooms.  All I heard were doors closing/slamming and loud talking in the hall almost constantly for the next 30 minutes until I asked them nicely to please stop...so now I was up until about 11:30/midnight.  So, I guess I did get my nap in after all :-).
Early the next morning when I woke up to slamming doors again and one of the coaches or chaperones yelling in the hall that they all needed to be together for breakfast because they only had one voucher for everyone, I was just slightly annoyed...but I was excited about the class.  I knew I was going to be tired from not sleeping well and being in class for 7 hours so I was not looking forward to my 3+ hour drive home.  So, I booked the ferry back to CT and that was the BEST decision ever...what a nicer way to travel and wouldn't do it any other way if I ever go to Long Island again.
After all that, I did enjoy the class.  I always enjoy meeting new people that share my obsession with paper crafting...really enjoyed the markers we got with class and while I said that I would never get the air compressor...well...I just might.

Just a few notes...

I just wanted to say thank you again to all you ladies that came out on that lovely WET evening for my first layout class at Wiggles and Giggles.  At least it was rain and not snow!  It was great to see some familar faces from classes that I have taught at The Inspiration Station as well as having the opportunity to meet some great new people.  I hope to see you all again soon.  I know there were some people that tried to get into the class but couldn't due to it being sold out.  I hope to meet you soon in another class of mine.

I will be getting my COPIC marker certification near the end of March.  Another goal that can be checked off on my 2010 Creative Goals list...yeah!!!  I am really looking forward to playing some more with what I call the "adult crayons".  Just like pattern paper there are so many different colors to choose from!  I can remember going back to school for the first day and seeing the new box of crayons on my desk and each one was perfectly pointed...ahhhh - I loved that!  I am hoping to be able to add some type of COPIC class to my teaching schedule shortly after my certification.  Ever since I started playing with the COPIC markers, I have been looking at rubber stamps in a different way.  Now I also look for the ones that I can color in...and it's so much fun!

Speaking of those kinds of stamps...be sure to check out The Inspiration Station's new stamps that just came in...Stampavie (http://www.stampavie.com/) and Inky Antics(http://cre8tivemom.blogspot.com/2010/02/easter-stamps-arriving.html?)  ... OMG!!!!  I love them!  Here is a birthday card that I made using one of the new turtle Inky Antic sets for my sweet grandmother that turned 90 yesterday!  Be sure to check out their new stamps...they are so great!  I feel like a little kid again.  What a great feeling :-)

As for some samples for some upcoming classes...I am sort of in limbo just waiting for the product to come in.  I will be using the following papers in some upcoming classes:
I have included the links to the sites where you can access their catalogs or directly to the product line if available incase you wanted to get an idea of what will be coming up for classes.  I cannot wait until it all comes in so I can create some new projects!

As for the rest of my 2010 Creative Goals...out of six goals, I have two remaining:
  1. Ranger U
  2. Design Team
I'll keep you posted if I can check another one of these off my list.  I hope so!!!
Hope you all have a great day!

A New Years Resolution/Goal

For some time now I have wanted to venture out further into the Scrapbooking industry.  However, putting myself out there can sometimes leave me feeling vulnerable and open to criticism.  That can be a difficult thing when it is about something that is a piece of me...a personal creation of mine.  I have decided that 2010 is the year...the year to accomplish some of those goals that I have wanted to do for some time now.  There's no time like the present!

My 2010 Creative Goals
  1. CREATE BLOG: The creation of my blog is goal number one because many of my other goals require having a blog.
  2. MAINTAINING BLOG:  My plan is to update my blog at least once a week.
  3. TEACH MORE CLASSES:  As part of venturing out I would like to teach more classes in different locations.  I love my followers from The Inspiration Station and I am not going anywhere, but adding another teaching location is another goal of mine.
  4. CERTIFIED RANGER EDUCATOR:  I really, really, really want to attend RANGER U and become a Certified Ranger Educator.  While I have used many of the Ranger products in my classes and I love them all,  I would like to learn more to improve my knowledge on some of their other products as well as being able to pass along this information in my classes.  They say it is difficult to get in due to the limited number of spaces available and only two classes a year are offered...so wish me luck and... Tim if you are on my blog...PLEASE PICK ME!!! :-)
  5. COPIC CERTIFIED DESIGNER: The second certification that I would like to obtain is in Copic Markers.  When I use my Copics it reminds me of going back to school on the first day and that new box of crayons was on your desk.  I love to color...it makes me feel young again and it is relaxing!
  6. DESIGN TEAM:  Look for a design team that would be right for me and go for it!  Try and try again.  You can't do it if you don't try.  So, I will try for the one(s) that is a good fit.
Now that I have set these goals, I will be trying to accomplish them.  I will be sure to let you know when I meet a goal...and if you have any pull at Ranger...give a tug for me :-)

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope that you will come back again!
